Built to professional spec
A serious cutting board doesn't ask for attention — it earns it the first time you set a knife on it. We build ours to that standard.
Edge-grain maple. Glued tight under cauls. Surfaced flat to within a few thousandths. Sanded through six grits. Finished with our shop-blended Heartwood Butter — beeswax, mineral oil, and a touch of carnauba — worked in by hand until the grain stops drinking. We'll put one head-to-head with any commercial board on the market — and we mean that.
The difference is who's making them. Every board is built, sanded, finished, and packed by a young person in our Deeply Ingrained program — learning the craft from the first rip cut to the final coat of finish. Nothing leaves our shop that wouldn't pass professional QC, and our youth take more pride in that than any production line ever could. When you buy one of our boards, you're putting a craftsman's tool on your counter — and craftsman's skills in a young person's hands.
Three sizes, every kitchen
Pick the size that fits how you cook. Each is a fully working board — same wood, same construction, same standard — just scaled to the job.
Make it yours
Names, dates, monograms, family crests, ranch brands, business logos — engraved in-house on the back face so the working surface stays clean. A great wedding, housewarming, retirement, or closing gift.
How the engraving order works: add your board to the cart, then add your engraving tier from the same listing. Once your order is placed, our team will reach out within two business days to gather your artwork, confirm placement, and (for custom artwork) provide a final quote before we begin.
Every board ships ready to use
We don't send a board that won't work out of the box. Each one comes with what you need to get it on the counter and keep it healthy.
A sample of Heartwood Butter
Every board ships with a 1/2 oz sample of our shop-blended food-safe board conditioner — beeswax, mineral oil, and a touch of carnauba. Enough to season a new board and get a feel for how it should look and feel. After that, refills are available in our shop.
Hand-made means hand-made
Every board is built one at a time. We mill the maple, glue it up, surface it flat, sand it through six grits, oil it, and pack it — all by hand, in our Indianapolis shop.
Inventory shifts week to week depending on what's curing, what's drying after finish, and how busy the engraving queue is. Please allow up to two weeks from order to ship — a little longer if you've added custom engraving during a busy stretch. If your size is in stock and ready, it'll go out faster, and we'll always email you with a real ship date once your order lands.
Why two weeks? Glue cures overnight. Finish needs time to soak in and set. The engraving laser only runs one board at a time. We could rush it — plenty of shops do — but the boards we'd ship wouldn't be the ones we want our youth's name on. Two weeks lets us do the job right.
Keep it for generations
Maple is a friendly wood. Treat it right and one of our boards will outlive the people who buy it. Treat it wrong — dishwasher, soaking, leaving it wet — and you'll wreck it in a year. The basics are simple.
Hand wash with warm water and mild soap. Dry both sides immediately. Stand it on edge or rack it for airflow. Re-condition with Heartwood Butter monthly, or whenever the surface looks thirsty. Never the dishwasher. Never sitting in the sink.
